History of KTD

Kimberley Tool & Design (NZ) Limited is a Private Company owned by husband and wife Brian and Marilyn Parker, and based in Waihi, New Zealand.

As word spread of the existence of KTD and of Brian's ability, experience and calibre as a Toolmaker and Tool Designer, the workload dramatically increased and the customer base expanded rapidly. To satisfy the demand for the manufacturing plant, a wider range of machines were purchased and staff levels increased to cope with the workload. This included five additional Toolmakers to cover the demand for the tooling facilities.

KTD now has one of the largest Press Shops in Australasia, with a punching capacity ranging from 2 to 125 tonnes. Coupled with this is a modern, well equipped Toolroom, capable of not only repairs and maintenance to existing tools and the manufacture of new tools from initial design stage through to commissioning, but also of highly accurate precision engineering and fabrication work.

KTD is now one of the largest employers in the area.

Through a commercial relationship with other companies spread throughout New Zealand and overseas, KTD has the ability to take on almost any job that customers throw it’s way, from automatic turning to powder coating, CNC machining to fabrication, product assembly to packaging and distribution, KTD can do it all..

KTD supplies components to a broad customer base in a wide range of highly competitive industries including Agriculture, Automotive Lighting, Construction, Domestic Appliances and Theatre Lighting to mention a few. Many of the components currently manufactured have been designed and developed using the technical capabilities and prototype development facilities available at KTD.

All the team at KTD are highly skilled and between them have an enormous experience and knowledge within their own fields of expertise. Whatever the customers’ specific requirements, from component design and manufacture to Toolmaking, special purpose machines to metal fabrication, the people with the knowledge, contacts and skills are all under the one roof:
