What can we do for you?
Our forte is pressed metal components. Many of the parts that we make for our existing customers, it is very likely that you have in your home, maybe the car, on a farm. We work for companies recognised as world leaders in their fields. And in many cases, the technology and expertise at KTD helped them get there.
If you have a component you’ve designed, dreamed of or already have being made, we can help. Size is no issue. Currently, our smallest component is 3mm wide and about 12mm long and produced on a band for automated insertion into a circuit board. Our largest is over 3 metres long and weighs 16kgs. We work in a wide range of ferrous and non ferrous metals, stainless steel, aluminium and extrusions, even silver! We work with leading logistics companies, and can arrange delivery your product to your factory, subcontractors or customers. We can definitely help you.
Run Size?
We can do what you need, but recommend breaking down production runs to spread out cashflow and stock holding costs. Currently we run components in batches of 100 to 100000 and beyond.
Can we help with the design?
Yes and we recommend we do, generally for little, if any cost. You’re an expert in your industry, us in ours. We’re familiar with suppliers, materials, finishes including plating, powdercoating, painting and polishing. We can help you. We also have plenty of experience in prototyping and product development.
KTD has arguably the largest press shop in New Zealand, with a spread of machines from 2 to 150 tonnes, including coil handling facilities up to 900mm wide, a 3m x 6mm CNC Guillotine and a 70 tonne press brake. This gives us the scope we need to give your components the attention they deserve and a bulk of machine capacity to make them quickly and cost effectively.
Alongside this is our modern and well equipped toolroom. Using CAD and EDM processes alongside more conventional milling, drilling, grinding and turning equipment, our team of experienced toolmakers can undertake your tooling projects from design to reality in a cost effective and timely fashion. This facility also ensures that your components are made on tools that are well maintained, ensuring maximum tool life, performance and best possible results in the manufacturing plant, all of which ensures maximum return from your capital investment. Our maintenance system will even identify re-occuring issues and proactively address.
