Case 4

A customer in a building related industry wanted to reduce the cost of finishing his brackets. Currently powdercoated, they were individually racked to process through the operation and experiencing some damage in packaging.

KTD Solution: To modify tooling to produce in strips of 25, automatically counted and cut off at the machine to maximise throughput through the powdercoating booth and ovens, with almost no decrease in running speed. This also served to change the packaging too, meaning that no longer did the brackets chip and a significant improvement in their stock contol and management. Installers now worked with a “snap off” strip, easier to handle during the installation as well. The customer saved on powdercoating, repair, installation and warehousing costs, and got a sharp deal on the metal pressings too.
